Sourav Ganguly's Direct Advice to KL Rahul Amid T20 World Cup Selection Discussions

Lucknow Super Giants' captain, KL Rahul, is making his mark in the ongoing IPL campaign. In 8 matches, the wicketkeeper-batsman has amassed 302 runs at a commendable strike rate of 141.12, including two half-centuries. As the team gears up for their upcoming clash against Chennai Super Kings, Rahul aims to continue his impressive form. Alongside his IPL performance, Rahul is also eyeing a spot in India's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the United States and West Indies.

Delhi Capitals' Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly, recently shared insights from his conversation with Rahul during the T20 World Cup 2022, offering valuable advice.

"For India, the key in T20 cricket – and I conveyed this to Rahul during our time in Australia – is to play without fear. Just go out there and express yourself. The batting line-up is deep, and even if you lose wickets, you can still control the game. So, just go out there and play your natural game," Ganguly emphasized during a media interaction organized by DC.

In the previous IPL 2024 encounter between LSG and CSK, Rahul's stellar innings of 82 runs off 53 balls steered his team to victory by eight wickets. However, in the subsequent clash against CSK, Rahul managed only 16 runs off 14 balls.

"The other day, I witnessed his innings against Chennai, where Lucknow emerged victorious. His performance was exceptional, especially at the top order. It's all about playing freely and fearlessly, which is essential in T20 cricket," Ganguly praised Rahul's contribution.

Reflecting on LSG's performance, the franchise currently holds the fourth position on the points table, with five victories in eight matches, showcasing promising prospects for the remainder of the season.
