His blistering knock of 71 runs off 33 balls not only led his team to victory but also solidified their position at the top of the points table. While this win virtually guarantees RR's spot in the playoffs, the spotlight remains on Samson's potential inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad as a wicket-keeper.

International cricket stalwarts like Kevin Pietersen and Matthew Hayden are unequivocal in their support for Samson's inclusion in the 15-man squad. According to Pietersen, there's no doubt that Samson should be on the plane to the Caribbean and the USA for the T20 World Cup.

“He has to go. There's no doubt in my mind that he has to be on that aeroplane to the Caribbean and the USA in a couple of weeks. He is doing a lot with the pressure that he is also under as a captain and not being given higher honours. The way he scores runs and the situation he bats in, if I was the selector, he is one of my first picks,” Pietersen remarked on Star Sports following the RR vs LSG match.

Hayden echoed similar sentiments, expressing disappointment at Samson's consistent oversight for national recognition. He emphasized that Samson's impressive batting prowess and consistency make him a deserving candidate for the T20 World Cup squad.

“With Sanju, he always seems to get overlooked for national honours. I honestly been saying this for a decade, I don't know why because he is a serious hitter of the ball and if you put him up top, he does the damage through the phases. Tonight was the perfect captain's knock and guess what, he did it in the end,” Hayden emphasized.
