Ishan Kishan matched his own record by achieving a rapid half-century for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024.

During the 25th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Mumbai Indians (MI) faced off against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan equaled his own record by registering the fastest fifty for the five-time champions. MI's victory was highlighted by Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav's aggressive batting, complemented by Jasprit Bumrah's five-wicket haul, leading to a comprehensive seven-wicket win over RCB at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. As for the match itself, Mumbai Indians (MI) chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Despite early dismissals of Virat Kohli (3) and Will Jacks (8), MI's bowlers faced a tough challenge from skipper Faf du Plessis (61 off 40 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes) and Rajat Patidar (50 off 26 balls, including three fours and four sixes), who put together an 82-run partnership for the third wicket. Dinesh Karthik's quickfire unbeaten 53 off 23 balls, featuring five fours and four sixes, added valuable runs as RCB posted 196/8 in their 20 overs.

Apart from Jasprit Bumrah's exceptional performance with figures of 5/21, Shreyas Gopal, Gerald Coetzee, and Akash Madhwal also chipped in with a wicket each.

In the chase, MI's batting trio of Ishan Kishan (69 off 34 balls, with seven fours and five sixes), Rohit Sharma (38 off 24 balls, with three fours and three sixes), and Suryakumar Yadav (52 off 19 balls, with five fours and four sixes) dominated RCB's bowlers, securing victory for MI in just 15.3 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah was named the 'Player of the Match' for his outstanding bowling performance.

With this win, Mumbai Indians climb to seventh place with two wins and three losses, totaling four points. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore occupies the ninth spot with one win and five losses, gathering only two points.
