Mumbai Indians' own version of Mr. 360, Suryakumar Yadav, made a remarkable comeback to the team by smashing a 52 off 19 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Thursday. In the chase of 197 runs, MI efficiently chased down the target in just 15.3 overs, largely due to aggressive batting from the top-order players. Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Tilak Varma also contributed quick runs, but it was Suryakumar who particularly impressed former India spinner Harbhajan Singh.
Suryakumar, much like Ab de Villiers, possesses a wide array of shots in his batting arsenal. Harbhajan Singh is particularly grateful that he doesn't have to bowl to the Mumbai Indians' batsman in today's cricket landscape.
"I've never witnessed domination like Suryakumar's. It's unbelievable. Where can you bowl to him? I'm relieved I'm not on the field now. At this stage of his career, where can you bowl to this guy?
"He has an answer to every delivery you bowl, be it a wide yorker, bouncer, or anything else. He can execute the sweep, pull, upper cut, and more. He's a unique player," Harbhajan commented on Star Sports.
Having also represented Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan believes that Suryakumar is an enhanced version of De Villiers. The Turbanator even mentioned that Suryakumar would be his top choice if he had to build a T20 team today.
"Suryakumar belongs to a different league. When he shines, no one can match him. We've all seen AB de Villiers, an incredible player! But when I observe Suryakumar, I think he's an improved version of AB de Villiers. He has clinched more victories for his team than anyone else in this format.
"If I were to select a player for my team, he'd be my first choice in the auction. But that's just wishful thinking," he added.
